Four Factions

After the Clock Tower fell, Karaliman split in four. Each faction withdrew to its own town and kept its own creed. As for where your loyalty will lie, no one knows yet.

Order keeps us standing.

File · Allegiances · Demirsur

Iron Regiment

Town
Demirsur
Leader
Major Cemal Sert
Creed
Order and a single command; essence is ammunition.
Fighting style
Modern firearms, rune bullets, heavy armour.

Origin

On the Night of Two Skies the garrison commander, Colonel Rauf Demirsoy, opened the barracks gates to the people and handed out provisions on ration cards. The Iron Regiment is the continuation of the order that came through those gates. To them, the only way to survive inside the fog is to unite under a single command.

Grudge

It still carries the weight of the siege of Bakırhan on its shoulders, and it has not forgotten who brought down the assembly.

“The fog knows no discipline. We do.”
— Inscription over the Demirsur barracks gate

The city belongs to its people.

File · Allegiances · Bakırhan

The Union

Town
Bakırhan
Leader
Nermin Kalaycı
Creed
The city belongs to its people; essence is the people’s livelihood.
Fighting style
Handmade weapons, traps, essence bombs, talismans.

Origin

During the Fog Years, Hatice Kalaycı set up soup kitchens in the neighbourhoods and organised night watchmen. The Union was born from the people who gathered around those cauldrons. Talismans and the Anvil also emerged from Bakırhan’s workshops.

Grudge

It has not forgiven the siege, or the shots fired at the caravan carrying bread.

“Everyone gets a bowl. No one is turned away.”
— Hatice Kalaycı, from the margin of the soup-kitchen ledger

Essence is a trust.

File · Allegiances · Akpınar

The Covenant

Town
Akpınar
Leader
Hafsa the Teacher
Creed
Essence is a trust; it is used only when necessary.
Fighting style
Disciplined close combat, powerful healing and protection.

Origin

During the Fog Years, Haşim the Teacher took orphaned children into his orphanage in the valley. The Covenant is the continuation of that orphanage and the community that grew around it. In Akpınar, healing was born in their hands.

Grudge

It believes that those who turn essence into a weapon, those who go too far, will set Karaliman ablaze again.

“What is entrusted is never betrayed.”
— Inscription on the wall of the Akpınar orphanage

The road must stay open.

File · Allegiances · Yolağzı, Silent Shore

The Innkeepers

Town
Yolağzı, Silent Shore
Leader
Rıfat the Innkeeper
Creed
The road must stay open, and everyone must eat.
Fighting style
They do not fight. The Innkeepers’ Oath makes them untouchable.

Origin

Selvi Hatun, a former truck driver, set up supply caravans between the towns along the roads the fog had swallowed. The Innkeepers are the heirs of those caravans. Today they guard the thresholds and welcome the Entrusted who come from the sea at their caravanserais.

Grudge

They hold no grudge against anyone. They simply do not forget the Bloody Winter.

“No one will forget this blood.”
— Selvi Hatun, Karaliman Post, 1996
